Stand-Up Shaft Support SK

Stand-Up Shaft Support SK
ISUTAMI SK stand-up shaft support, also called SK linear shaft support block, is a kind of metric unit assembly for end or intermittent support. It is the machine component that position the shafts on which linear bearings slide. The linear shaft using the shaft mount is lightly loaded and does not require a slight shaft deflection. The shafts are typically installed in pairs, allowing a carriage or table (with installed bearings or bushings) to slide back and forth. The shafts must be aligned parallel to each other or the carriage will not operate smoothly.

Stand-Up Shaft Support SK Features

Unlike the shaft support rails, the SK stand-up shaft support blocks do not permit longitudinal passage of open-type ball bushing bearings. Shaft support blocks enable clamping of shafts, eliminate the need for bolts to maintain shaft position. Shimming is suggested for high precision applications to eliminate the effect of variations in surface of base or manufacturing tolerances between supports.

SK shaft support is a steel one, so it is heavier than the same size of aluminum PA stand-up shaft support, and weighs from 24g to 750g, making it more stable during installation. There are flanges on both sides of the support bottom , and each has a screw hole with a diameter (S) ranging from 5.5 to 14 mm. The matching mounting screws are M5-M12 screws. The series of shaft blocks use side clamping to secure the linear shaft. The size of the locking screws is M4-M12.

The overall height (F) of the SK shaft support is 33-120mm, the width (W) range is 42-126mm, the length (L) range is 14-40mm, the width error range is ±0.05mm, and the height error range is ±0.02mm. The diameter of the linear shaft matched with the SK shaft support is 3-50mm.

In general, the advantages of using SK shaft support are as follows:

For easy installing and quick aligning
Precise design with reference edge
More affordable than in-house designs

For heavily loaded linear bearing units or long track lengths, ISUTAMI recommends the use of shaft supports to eliminate shaft bending. For these applications, continuous or at least partial support of the shaft is necessary.
